I'm not a great fan of saying hi to people or doing nice things just because there's a challenge out there that says I should. I was going to skip these, but I've already met some lovely new people via Snowflake posts so I suppose that satisfies Day 5. As for Day 12's act of kindness, I volunteered to go down to Manchester for the day to help my old team with something. I didn't strictly *have* to; I could have taken the slopey shoulders approach and decided it wasn't my problem any more, but I like my old team a lot and it felt like the right thing to do.

For my pains, I had the train journey from hell back to Edinburgh - five and a half hours instead of three - but on the plus side it meant I finally had time to read [personal profile] bunn 's wonderful Rexque Futurus (BBC's Merlin and Arthur adventuring in 21st century England, with a healthy side dose of dragons, linguistics and snark).  I also wrote a couple of snippets in response to combinations left on my new year prompt meme, so hopefully I can get those typed up and polished over the weekend.

And I got home eventually, and had a very late supper of prawns, brie and radishes. All in all, it could have been worse.

I'm glad it's not just me. *hides under a rock*

I hear you on not being keen on doing these things because of a challenge prompt. But like the first time when I did snowflake, I've met somebody new already before the prompt campe up and counted that for the challenge, and the same goes for the kindness thing. Yay for you for extra reading time, though! :o)

I found myself meeting this challenge with bewilderment this go around -kindness is something I strive for anyway, so it was feeling redundant and I wasn't sure what to do about that feeling. Then I started reading other people's responses to the challenge. :)

Ooof that's a long train ride! But it sounds like it ended up being productive, so that's a goodness. Yay for words!

I skipped this too, because I think kindness should be something we do, and not because we’re prompted to. I did things for my mum yesterday, massages helping her do some walking, food, holding her hand, but that’s love.

Sorry the train journey back was awful!

Yeah, I'm going to say "done" over on the challenge post because I did kind things yesterday, but it wasn't because of the challenge! Why wouldn't I get a cookie for a friend at writing group when I had a coupon for "buy one, get one free?" I certainly don't need two cookies for myself.

It was neat how it worked out, too. Another member of the group had the same coupon, so all four of us ended up with cookies.
