The days are getting longer! Not long before I'm not commuting in the pitch black :D

(Yes, yes, yes, I chose to move to Scotland and I knew very well what the weather and the daylight hours were like.  All I can say is that those long, cool summer nights are worth it!)

As someone who lives in Finland, I can totally relate to this! I, too, have already noticed a slight lengthening in daylight time. It usually becomes apparent in the beginning of February.

It can get hot, but it's a few days out of the summer. Not the entire season!

We had over 40 degrees C for a few days the last few years. That is not normal. Anything over 28 C should be forbidden.

Oh, it's so funny reading all the responses! We're just into the best time of the year, when the south east wind drops, the days are warm and so is the water... and I noticed that it is getting dark just a leeetle bit earlier! 😆

<3 of course, your days are going the opposite way! I do like autumn, but by the time January rolls around I'm always ready for spring.

That's something I like about our seasons here: just as I'm getting tired of one, the next comes along!

Sunlight is the reason why I am in no way moving in northern Canada, the midnight sun in summer is pure evil (so are zillions of bugs and brutal winters). I'm happy here in the south. (I checked Glasgow's and Edinburgh's sunset and sunrise hours to compare with Tiohtià:ke/Montréal, the sun here rises an hour earlier and goes to bed half an hour later than in Scotland. Mh. I expected a bigger gap. Interesting...)

I noticed a big difference between St Andrews, and where we are now (just outside Edinburgh). But St Andrews had very little light pollution; it's a lot more urban here.

I admire you for plunging into the winter-dark of Scotland. Where I am, I feel as though I've reached past my limit and then some by the time we slowly get more sunshine. I'm cheering up slowly as the sunlight comes back.

Those summer nights sound so lovely though.

Scotland is where my heart lives, and if winter darkness is the price to pay then so be it - but I do find myself longing for more light at this time of year! I mind it less in November and December when the dark nights are still a novelty, and there are all the holiday celebrations happening, but January is grim XD
