Hello, lovely creator, and thank you for making a gift for me!

First things first - I am extremely easy to please, and will be delighted with whatever you make. I've included some prompts below, as usual, but don't feel bound to these; I am mindful that we may not have matched on the character and freeform combinations that I think are the obvious ones. If you have a different idea then please follow your heart and have fun. I'd be equally thrilled to get something about any of the tags and characters I've selected so don't read anything into the length of the prompts, or whether I've requested the characters or fandoms before.

(NB – most of the requests are for art or fic. If you are kind enough to be contemplating a treat, then any medium is welcome, including podfic, vids, fanmixes, etc..)

There are a few things I would prefer not to receive in this exchange (these are as per my signup, but copying below for reference):

DNW - General

  • A/B/O
  • Age play and infantilisation
  • Cracky/humorous takes on the requested tags. I know some of the crossover requests are a bit out there but I'd prefer the scenarios were taken seriously on their own terms, if that makes sense. (Light-hearted banter, gallows humour, and finding the chinks of light in dark situations are all absolutely fine.)
  • Focus on pregnancy, childbirth or babies
  • Inflation; stuffing kink; focus on weight gain or loss; eating disorders or anything to do with disordered eating in general
  • Oviposition
  • Scat
  • Vomit (mentioning that a drugged character or a character with a concussion throws up is fine, but I don't need a two paragraph description. For art, please just don't depict it.)

DNW - Gore Specific

  • Anything being inserted via the ear
  • Dental trauma
  • Eroticized gore involving underage participants
  • Flaying
  • Permanent total loss of agency through gore-related trauma

A Word About My Personal Interpretations and Preferences

One of the greatest delights to me as a fan is stumbling across interpretations of characters and plots and motifs that I'd never considered; in an exchange, I am always keen to know how other creators see the stories I love. Please write or draw the requested characters in any way that you wish. Diverse skin tones; disabilities; different body types; trans, intersex and genderqueer headcanons – go for it.

I am quite happy for you to add unrequested characters (canon and original) to your art/story as you see fit, as long as one of my requested characters or ships has a significant role to play. I am also open to unrequested relationships of all kinds, so if you have a precious rare pair/OT3+ that you never get to write and it's compatible with one of my requests, please include it if you wish.

If Maglor appears (particularly in crossover contexts or in later Ages of Middle-earth), I do have a preference for him being capable and compos mentis, rather than feral, broken, or weeping by the sea forever more.

Requests

The Fall of Arthur - J. R. R. Tolkien

Medium: Art, Fic

Opt-in freeforms: Action With Gore; Angst With Gore; Character Death-Focused Work; Horror With Gore; Hurt/Comfort With Gore; Other/None - Freeform

Characters/Relationships: Agravain/Lancelot; Guinever; Gawain; Agravain

  • I found Tolkien's foray into the Arthurian cycle fascinating, and there's so much potential for further exploration, as most of the relationships are only sketched or skated over. The politics of the round table could come into play, or the mores of chivalry, or the betrayal and devotion woven through all of the legends.
  • I really love Guinever here; she's brave, proud, ruthless, clever, manipulative and fascinating – and the continued use of “fay” in the text (and her own musings on turning men's fates to her own ends) suggests she has some kind of otherworldly power, which I would love to see explored.
  • Agravain doesn't get time on screen in this version either, but I'm intrigued by his grey and ambiguous characterisation in the Vulgate Cycle (cf. assorted Noldor in the Silm). I'd like to see more of him in this setting – maybe you could give him a quest or adventure of his own?
  • Gawain's sword was marked with runes by “smiths enchanted ere Rome was built,” and I can't help wondering whether Tolkien was thinking of his Elven smiths here...
  • Mix any or all of this together with the gore tags, and I promise I will be delighted! For this canon and Sir Gawain, feel free to draw on other Arthurian sources as well as Tolkien's poems.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight - J. R. R. Tolkien

Medium: Art, Fic

Opt-in freeforms: Angst With Gore; Character Death-Focused Work; Eroticized Gore; Horror With Gore; Hurt/Comfort With Gore; Other/None - Freeform

Characters/Relationships: Morgana le Fay; Gawain; Bertilak

There's plenty of canon gore here (e.g. the beheading at the start; Bertilak's wounding of Gawain) but please do play about with others too if you wish - I feel like Gawain and Bertilak's relationship begs for knife play, even though I didn't nominate them together.  Or how about Morgana, and her dark plots and spells?  Blood magic could be a fun avenue to explore here...

Sellic Spell - J. R. R. Tolkien

Medium: Art, Fic

Opt-in freeforms: Action With Gore; Character Death-Focused Work; Graphic Torture; Horror With Gore

Characters/Relationships: Original Warrior of the Golden Hall; Grinder's Dam; Grinder

I love this strange little folk-tale reworking of Beowulf. I'm especially interested in depictions of monstrousness and otherness, so perhaps something about Grinder or his dam, their origins, and their perspective on events?  (Body horror and body modification could be fascinating to explore here.)   Alternatively, feel free to re-interpret and re-frame the story yet again, or take a look at events from a different viewpoint. If you want to draw on Beowulf itself as well, I'm more than fine with that.

(This fandom is an exception to my pregnancy DNW.)

The Lord of the Rings - J. R. R. Tolkien (1)

Medium: Fic

Opt-in freeforms: Action With Gore; Angst With Gore; Character Death-Focused Work; Horror With Gore; Hurt/Comfort With Gore; Other/None - Freeform

Characters/Relationships: Arahael/Elladan; Last Prince of Cardolan/Lady of the Blue Brooch; Original Éothéod Character & Original Wainrider Character; Original Character from Arthedain; Original Character from Cardolan; Original Character from Rhudaur; Original Entwife; Original Traveller in the Old Forest

  • I am fascinated by the legacy kingdoms of Arnor, and I love original characters. If it's not too topical then maybe you could explore the Great Plague?  Did Sauron or one of his lackeys create it? Was it the land's reaction to his return, or was it simply a dreadful coincidence? In-world meta could be interesting here - a healer's notes, or a traveller's diary entries, describing or depicting symptoms, perhaps.
  • For the Arahael/Elladan prompt...something character death focused, that shines a light on the choice of the Peredhil?  Or just some good old fashioned hurt-comfort?
  • What powers lurk in the Old Forest, besides Old Man Willow, and how do the Shire-folk keep them at bay? How about the River-woman? Did she know the Lady of the Blue Brooch? Was she responsible for her demise?
  • Maybe there are Huorns in the Old Forest! What are they - Ents that have become tree-like, trees that have grown like Ents, or something totally different? (If you're doing art, how about a hapless traveller, slowly being surrounded as the tree-creatures close in...?)

The Lord of the Rings - J. R. R. Tolkien (2)

Medium: Fic

Opt-in freeforms: Character Death-Focused Work

Characters/Relationships: Lalia Clayhanger & Pearl Took

This is a highly specific, niche request so if I've matched on it I'll be surprised, but maybe one to explore if whatever we matched on has lost its appeal?  I was thinking murder in the Shire, with a dark Miss Marple kind of vibe...did Pearl stand to gain anything from Lalia's death? Was she sick of being bossed around, and worse? Or did someone set things up to make her look guilty?

The Silmarillion - J. R. R. Tolkien

Medium: Art, Fic

Opt-in freeforms: Action With Gore; Angst With Gore; Character Death-Focused Work; Graphic Torture; Horror With Gore; Hurt/Comfort With Gore; Other/None - Freeform

Characters/Relationships: Celebrimbor/Sauron; Eönwë/Maglor; Finrod/Sauron; Finrod/Maglor; Maglor & Thuringwethil; Maglor & Original Werewolf; Maedhros/Maglor; Carcharoth; Draugluin; Celebrimbor; Finrod; Finduilas Faelivrin; Gelmir; Gwindor; Maeglin; Maglor; Original Vampire Character; Thuringwethil

  • For all the Silm tags I would be so interested in delving into the psychology of the characters, relationships and motives, if that's something that interests you.  Or just hurt them.  That's fine too!
  • Go wild for your own AUs if you like - modern AU, mermaid AU, pirate AU, I'm here for it if it ups the potential for exploring dark, gory goodness.  Maglor (or anyone - Carcharoth? Thuringwethil???) in history is also a favourite trope of mine.
  • Highly specific, but for the Eönwë/Maglor tag, I would love to see some wing kink...
  • Absolutely down for trans!Finduilas &/or Finduilas as Gil-galad if those are your headcanons.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

Medium: Art, Fic

Opt-in freeforms: Hurt/Comfort With Gore

Characters/Relationships: Clint Barton & Loki (MCU); Loki & Odin (MCU)

Clint taking pity on Loki at some point during or after the Battle of New York?  Or Odin, caring for his son after an earlier battle?

Penny Dreadful

Medium: Art, Fic

Opt-in freeforms: Action With Gore; Angst With Gore; Character Death-Focused Work; Eroticized Gore; Graphic Torture; Horror With Gore; Hurt/Comfort With Gore; Other/None - Freeform

Characters/Relationships: Catriona Hartdegen/Vanessa Ives; Catriona Hartdegen & Ethan Chandler; Ethan Chandler & Hecate Poole; Mina Harker/Vanessa Ives; Catriona Hartdegen; Dorian Gray; Hecate Poole; Mina Harker; Vanessa Ives; Victor Frankenstein

  • This canon was MADE for a gore-focused event!
  • Catriona wasn't super popular when she was introduced in Season 3, but personally I loved her, and I wanted more! Past adventures or post canon exploration equally welcome. I ship her hard with Vanessa but I can see her going on adventures with Ethan!, and hurt-comfort goodness ensuing...or perhaps she sees Ethan transform?
  • Hecate...what was her road to the nightcomers? What does she think of Vanessa? How does she feel about Ethan? I would love a glimpse inside her head - or, if you're doing art, maybe something that contrasts how Hecate appears to most of the world against how she looks in her "true" form?  Perfect opportunity to explore body modification, branding, or monstrous transformation, if any of those sound appealing...
  • Mina i if we've matched on Mina by herself then I have a slight preference for vampire Mina over human Mina, but I am absolutely up for spooky childhood shenanigans in the Murray household (the taxidermy scenes are some of my favourites), or gapfiller-y explorations of her seduction by her dark Master.
  • If we've matched Mina and Vanessa then creepy Victorian childhood stuff is a guaranteed win, or the two of them together as young adults, or an exploration of their manipulative psychic bond. (If you're writing, I'd particularly love epistolary, and canon gives so much scope for it with all those long, unsent letters Van wrote to Mina in Season 1.) The quote that sums up this relationship to me? "I love you enough to kill you."
  • As for Vanessa herself,  I will be happy with anything you choose to create here - go full on horror and explore her possession by the Devil; break my heart by depicting one of her periods of illness; give me fierce, terrifying Vanessa standing against (or commanding) the forces of darkness; show her grappling with her faith, show her as a child with Peter and Mina, show her time on the moors with the Cut-wife.  Any of those have potential for a large helping of gore.
  • For Victor, something focused on him working on his creatures?
  • And finally, Dorian...blood.  Anything involving blood.

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels

Medium: Art, Fic

Opt-in freeforms: Action With Gore; Angst With Gore; Character Death-Focused Work; Eroticized Gore; Graphic Torture; Horror With Gore; Hurt/Comfort With Gore; Other/None - Freeform

Characters/Relationships: Tiago Vega; Sister Molly; Santa Muerte; Mateo Vega; Magda; Fly Rico; Sister Molly/Tiago Vega

No specific prompts here but there are some brilliantly blood-soaked canon scenes for you to delve into, so pick your favourite and go wild.  Or, if you want to mix up elements of the original Penny Dreadful show with City of Angels and create more continuity between the two, then please go for it. I am happy for characters from either show to turn up in the other. The potential connections, for me, were seriously under-explored, although City of Angels only got one season, which didn't help.

Crossovers - Silmarillion/Doctor Who/Star Wars

Medium: Fic

Opt-in freeforms: Action With Gore; Angst With Gore; Graphic Torture; Horror With Gore; Hurt/Comfort With Gore; Other/None - Freeform

Characters/Relationships: Bill Potts (Doctor Who)/Heather (Doctor Who) & Maglor (Silmarillion); Depa Billaba (SW Kanan) & Maglor (Silm); Depa Billaba (SW Kanan) & Maglor (Silm) & Eleventh Doctor (Doctor Who); Eleventh Doctor (Doctor Who – 2005) & Maglor (Silmarillion); Jack Harkness (Doctor Who - 2005) & Maglor (Silmarillion)

There is SO MUCH potential here! Jedi and immortals wandering through time and possibly space...what are their views on each other? How do their experiences compare and contrast? What stories do they tell each other? Show me a one-off encounter between them, have Maglor as an undocumented companion of Eleven (accidental stowaway on the TARDIS!?), have them encountering each other multiple times at different points in their timelines...it's totally up to you.

My favourite episodes of Doctor Who are almost always the ghost stories - think "Hide", "Heaven Sent" and "The Haunting of Villa Diodati" - these could lend themselves to some gory action, and also possibly a guest appearance from Heather and Bill? I also love the romps through futuristic sci-fi settings (bonus points for running up and down corridors!), the "let's visit history" ones, the lower budget character-focused ones, and the ones that turn on solving a puzzle.  I specifically nominated the Eleventh Doctor because I loved Matt Smith's portrayal, but you're welcome to include multiple incarnations of the Doctor in your fic if you prefer others - as long as Eleven makes an appearance, I will be happy. Companion-wise, I like the Ponds, Clara, River and the Paternoster Gang, but don't feel obliged to include any of them.

As for Depa, I would love it if you rescued her from her canon fate (maybe she was badly hurt but the Doctor &/or Maglor arrive at just the right moment), but please feel free to break my heart with the canon tragedy if you prefer.

Crossovers - Silmarillion/Castlevania

Medium: Fic

Opt-in freeforms: Action With Gore; Angst With Gore; Graphic Torture; Horror With Gore; Hurt/Comfort With Gore; Other/None - Freeform

Characters/Relationships: Celebrimbor (Silmarillion) & Hector (Castlevania); Celebrimbor (Silmarillion)/Hector (Castlevania)

The first time I watched Castlevania I just devoured it for the story, and for the relationship between the central trio. The second time, I spotted an eight-pointed star on Hector the Forgemaster's clothing, and my crackiest crossover idea in a while was born. There's plenty of magical technology lying around in Dracula's castle, including a mirror that can transport people halfway across the world; between that and whatever Celebrimbor and the Gwaith-i-Mírdain invented or had access to, there's definitely scope for cross-dimensional communication or travel. Both, too, are canonically subjected to torture - feel free to rescue Celebrimbor from his fate, or to save Hector from Carmilla's clutches a little earlier.  Or both, or neither, as you please!

Crossovers - Silmarillion/MCU

Medium: Fic

Opt-in freeforms: Action With Gore; Angst With Gore; Graphic Torture; Horror With Gore; Hurt/Comfort With Gore; Other/None - Freeform

Characters/Relationships: Loki (MCU) & Maglor (Silmarillion)

Something set after Loki's journey between dimensions, perhaps, and Maglor has to pick up the pieces after Loki's torture?  Or perhaps Maglor ends up in Asgard, for some reason - or go pre-MCU canon, and have Maglor hanging out with the Norsemen who believed in Thor and Loki as gods.

Or (one final idea) canon divergence where Loki doesn't die at Thanos's hands...he and/or Maglor are wounded, but still have to play their part in saving the universe...

Crossovers - Silmarillion/Penny Dreadful

Medium: Fic

Opt-in freeforms: Action With Gore; Angst With Gore; Graphic Torture; Horror With Gore; Hurt/Comfort With Gore; Other/None - Freeform

Characters/Relationships: Dorian Gray (Penny Dreadful)/Maglor (Silm); Dorian Gray (Penny Dreadful) & Maglor (Silmarillion); Magda (City of Angels) & Maglor (Silmarillion); Maglor (Silmarillion) & Original Daywalker (Penny Dreadful)

If Maglor met Magda on his travels, would he sense what she was?  There's loads of potential to play with horror here, or torture - might Magda try to entrap Maglor?  How would she (and her sister, Santa Muerte) feel about Elvenkind and their long, long lifespan?

I don't have any specific prompts for the Daywalker tag but I would be interested in seeing Maglor in either the west country setting of 'The Nightcomers", or in Victorian London like the rest of the show.  If this tag appeals to you then go wild!

As for Dorian and Maglor...they're both beautiful, immortal, and morally ambiguous. I just think it has a lot of potential – and I would love it if you did something with the deal Dorian made for his soul and how that contrasts with and parallels Maglor's Oath.  (Also we know that Dorian is canonically into knifeplay, so there is that...)
